Burnham was an award-winning photographer at the Fayetteville Observer for more than 30 years. Early in her career, she photographed singers and musicians with nationally known bands that stopped in Fayetteville while on tour.
Through the years, her unposed photographs of people in the news have made their stories come alive for the reader. Burnham’s images have appeared on the covers and pages of Newsweek, New York Times, Sports Illustrated and others.
When not at work, Burnham divided her time between shooting flowers in her garden and scuba diving to photograph sharks and WWII wrecks. Now that she is retired from the Observer, she stays busy with numerous commissions she has received as a free-lance photographer.
